dog days of summer 2011...

well summer is quickly coming to an end. the weather around here in the last part of aug. still hits in the 90's. all of the puppy dogs are doing fine. next on the vet list is luke and scarlett. good news, all seems fine and the vet visit should be for just routine shots and check ups. looks like we will be taken them in the first part of sept. we are keeping our fingers crossed and our check book needs a rest on the vet bills. yesterday was dog bath day. it went by pretty quick with no major problems. we use an entire bottle of dog shampoo each time we bathe the dogs. but hey... we now have clean, shiny and most important, good smelling beagles... :)

last thursday...

well early thursday morning i could tell miss daisy was not her self. when it was time for her morning outside break, she walked out slowly and her tail was between her back legs, head down. i talked to her and checked her from head to tail. when she went to the bathroom out side she had very bad case of diarrhea. when we got back inside she would not take her snack. head down and not moving around very much. with in just a few short hours she was vomiting. the good news she stopped the vomiting but the diarrhea continued. she would not eat or drink any water. we had already set up an appointment to go to the vets early in the week, just not for this. the vet ran several tests and started an iv for her being dehydrated. the vet put her on two medicines and let her come home after the iv. the next morning you could clearly see the medicine was working. a little weak but she was up and moving with her head and tail up. well it's now been a week and miss daisy continues doing better each day. she loves her special "chicken and rice" dinners she is on for 10 days. 3 more days of medicine to go with all looking good. her tail wagging and her barks telling you something is going on will always bring a smile to my face. after a week of her getting better, my smile is getting bigger...
