Mr. Rocco made it through his surgery. He is back home with all of his friends. His surgery went well. His foot is bandaged up from the removal of the tumor. He has been sleeping most all day with the medicine in him. I got him to go out to the bath room 2 times today and he did eat a little at lunch time. He is currently on 6 pills a day and getting him to take the pills is not working out very well. He is like the rest of us, just leave me alone so i can rest... He goes back to the vet in three days for a look at the paw and new bandages. A lot going on for the old guy. We continue following the vets instructions and we will see how things go for the next few days. Hang in there Mr Rocco, we all love ya...

18 Ears...
yep... today was "clean the dog ears day"... well lets just say i am not very popular today. this is not one one the favorite things for the dogs to do. it goes from scarlett who will sit perfectly still to pd who fights you all the way until its over. by far busters ears are the dirtiest. they seem to be getting better but with him always rolling his head in the dirt, its a wonder the aren't worse. sady girl always seems to be the cleanest. all the others fall somewhere in between. well, another 18 ears cleaned and i must say none of us are looking forward to the next cleaning...
Rocco update...
We heard back from the vet's office today. Rocco's blood work came back negative. So... it looks like he is able to move on to the next step, "surgery". We continue giving him his twice a day antibiotic. He doesn't seem to mind, since he gets to take it with an extra snack. We set up the appointment for his surgery. So... Rocco waits, we wait to see what the next couple of weeks will bring.
Rocco Vet Visit...
Well how do the say it? When it rains, it pours.
Rocco was scheduled for his yearly check-up and shots. We scheduled him and took him down on what was actually the hottest day of the year so far. With the AC turned on HIGH, we loaded up in the truck and we were on our way. Rocco is the oldest of all of the dogs and we will share much more about him when it's his turn to be spot-lighted on the front page. We arrived at the vet early and he got updated on 3 of his needed shots. We had noticed a lump on the under part of his paw just a few days ago and we asked the vet to take a look. The vet seems to think it's a tumor and wants to test and remove it. But before he can do anything, they will need to run some other tests to make sure he can handle any kind of surgery. We went ahead and scheduled the work-up tests for next week and we will see what that brings for Rocco's next step.
